The lawyers (without dressing) of businessman Mohamed Mehdi Mohsen blew on the coals on June 9. They responded to the controversy born of a decision pronounced by the TPI of Kaloum against a Lebanese national.

The case has been causing a stir since June 7. After a complaint from several miners, Mohamed Mehdi Mohsen of the Sabev company, Dame Aïssatou Diallo of the BKS company and Boubacar Diallo were arrested, tried and convicted for “breach of trust”. They are accused of having embezzled nearly fifty billion sliding francs belonging to the plaintiffs. Except that the sentence does not satisfy anyone, at least neither Mehdi Mohsen nor the plaintiffs. The latter are also crying foul.

After the decision, the civil parties were sobbing before the Kaloum TPI. They accuse the court of having rendered a decision that was too lenient with regard to the Lebanese businessman. The plaintiffs believe that the defendants should be sentenced to the same sentence. Except that Mehdi Mohsen’s lawyers do not hear it that way. They swear that their client is both a victim of Aïssatou Diallo and the complainants: “The collective wonders about the relentlessness of the civil parties on Mr. Mehdi Mohsen and the company Sabev, when the latter are also victims as they are” . Maître Pépé Antoine Lama accuses the civil parties of laxity: “They did not do any diligence to prevent Lady Aïssatou Diallo from disposing of more than 30 billion Guinean francs deposited in the account of the SBK company while she was in detention. This is eloquent proof that our clients are in no way debtors of Mrs. Diallo, and that the amounts claimed by the civil parties have indeed been used by her”. He said he was certain that the civil parties, convinced that Dame Aïssatou was not able to repay their money, wanted to fall head over heels for Mehdi Mohsen “to get paid by people who are neither near nor far beneficiaries embezzled sums”.

This case dates back to 2021. Dame Aïssatou makes Mehdi Mohsen believe that she is a businesswoman working in the fields of precious stones and foreign exchange transactions. The latter falls into his nets. He then mandates the lady to find him currency in return for the Guinean franc. At first, everything runs normally. But at one point, it contracts currencies equivalent to billions of Guinean francs from several gold panners. But instead of transmitting all the currencies to the businessman, it pays only part. She makes the miners believe that their money is with Mehdi Mohsen. To pay, the businessman issues two checks in the name of Aïssatou Diallo. She declares them lost, asks him to cancel them. But miners come to UBA-Bank with the same checks, while the Lebanese had written to the Bank for cancellation. It was when Mehdi Mohsen was waiting to be paid that he was summoned to the Central Directorate of Judicial Investigations, heard, referred to the TPI of Kaloum and put in the gnouf at the five-star hotel in Coronthie. To date, he is condemned to pay a little more than 12 billion sliding francs to the gold panners. Aïssatou Diallo will have to pay nearly 40 billion sliding francs. The businessman has already appealed.
