A person in Pajala is believed to have been lying dead in his bedroom for several days despite repeated visits to the residence by the home service.

The person was found on Friday. The last time the home service had contact with the person was nine days earlier, local media reports.

Pajala municipality has lex Sarah reported the incident. In the report, the municipality writes that “she used to want to be left alone and often lay in the bedroom with the door locked”.

– For a long time, a behavior developed between users and staff where time could pass without physical contact, says Agneta Rantatalo, unit manager at the home service, to SVT Nyheter Norrbotten.

The death was only discovered when staff reacted to the fact that the food items bought in the week before were still in the fridge. In addition, there were several food boxes that were unopened.

– We have to create routines around physical contact during home care visits, says Agneta Rantatalo.
