Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is the biggest liar on earth. The Prime Minister of Pakistan also accused Imran of destroying the country’s economy. Dawn reports citing an interview given by the Pakistani prime minister to the UK newspaper The Guardian.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was talking about the calamities caused by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in Pakistan’s domestic and foreign affairs. Shehbaz Sharif alleged that Imran is the biggest liar on earth and it is an undeniable recognition for him.

A secret diplomatic cable was recently released by the Pakistani media indicating that the US administration wants to topple the Imran Khan government and facilitate regime change in the country. Citing this cable, known as Cipher, Imran Khan had strengthened the allegation that foreign forces were behind the fall of his government. Shehbaz Sharif was responding to this.

The cipher, based on a meeting between Pakistan’s then US ambassador Asad Majeed and US State Department official Donald Luw, is central to PTI’s claim that there was a US conspiracy to oust Imran from office in April.

“I say this not with joy, but with shame and concern. These lies told for personal gain have damaged the image of my country a lot,” the Pakistani prime minister said in an interview with a British newspaper, Dawn reported.

Pakistan’s prime minister has accused Imran Khan of injecting poison into society to dangerously polarize Pakistan after he was ousted in a no-confidence vote in April.

In an earlier media interview after becoming prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif had called Imran Khan a “liar and a cheater”. The Pakistani prime minister’s allegations come after the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said in its latest report that Pakistan’s economy will shrink to 3.5 percent in the 2022-23 fiscal year due to catastrophic floods and policy tightening.
