jpnn.comJAKARTA – Political communication observer Jamiluddin Ritonga considers NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh’s statement that he was reluctant to ask for a ministerial seat in Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet as mere political platitudes.

He said that the narrative that emerged on the political stage between the front and back sides was sometimes different.

“Surya’s attitude is better seen as just political lip service. His attitude is just a front stage to satisfy public consumption,” said the observer from Esa Unggul University to the media crew, Friday (3/5).

Jamiluddin felt strange when he heard Paloh’s statement, who has the status of a senior politician, that he wanted to form a coalition without an agreement.

“Because, it is a bit strange that Surya, as a politician, wants to join a coalition that was previously his competitor without any political deal, even though every politician’s attitudes and actions are always aimed at gaining power,” he said.

However, he said, proof that Paloh was reluctant to ask for a ministerial seat when NasDem joined Prabowo’s camp could only be answered by time.

“Proof that Surya is reluctant to ask for a seat with Prabowo will be known over time,” he said.

Previously, Paloh felt reluctant to ask for a ministerial slot after NasDem decided to support Prabowo’s government.
