The film is part of the celebrated Is There a Cop for…? trilogy, a series of comedic parodies inspired by The Naked Gun / Police Academy franchise. The original Is There a Cop to Save the Queen? debuted in 1988, followed by Is There a Cop to Save the World? in 1991, and concluding with Is There a Cop to Save Hollywood? in 1994.

The first film in the series grossed $152,445,177 worldwide, while the second earned $192,240,411, and the third brought in $132,405,598 at the global box office.
A reboot of the franchise hit cinemas in August 2025, with Liam Neeson stepping into the role previously held by Leslie Nielsen, who passed away in November 2010. Pamela Anderson also returned to the spotlight, fueled by her advocacy and her performance in The Last Showgirl, directed by Gia Coppola.
However, the reboot proved somewhat disappointing commercially, earning $102 million against a $42 million budget. In France, the film attracted over 320,000 moviegoers—half the number who saw the earlier films starring Nielsen.
Neeson and Anderson: A Budding Connection
The connection between Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson was revealed by Neeson in an interview with People magazine. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s so nice to look at.’ And I was really captivated by your audacity. You were completely there.”
Anderson responded candidly: “Oh yes, I immediately knew there was chemistry between us. I was curious to see where this would take us in the film. It was a very good start. But I still have this feeling of having to work on my self-confidence. Liam really put me at ease.”
Liam Neeson shared: “I’ve been in over 100 films, and this kind of chemistry is rare. It’s not love at first sight, it’s a presence, an attitude. I told myself, ‘Trust, let it grow, don’t overanalyze it.’ It was right there. And I love it.”
Despite the on-screen spark, a sequel appears unlikely, according to director Akiva Schaffer.
