The Youth Parapan American Games Chile 2025 kicked off with a resounding success for Team ParaChile, who secured a remarkable 23 medals on Monday – including 10 in para athletics alone – across archery, table tennis, and the Games’ inaugural para athletics events. Para Athletics: A Stellar Debut
The Mario Recordón Atlético Stadium in Parque Estadio Nacional witnessed the thrilling debut of para athletics, quickly becoming a source of national pride as Chilean athletes consistently reached the podium. Antonia Ortiz led the charge, claiming a silver medal in the women’s T35 class 100-meter dash with a time of 14.34 seconds.
The medal momentum continued with Antonella Aguero securing bronze in the women’s T37 class 100-meter dash, finishing in 18.08 seconds.Florencia Ramirez added another bronze to the tally in the women’s T38 class 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 16.79 seconds.
The afternoon brought even greater triumphs. Maria Jesus Lara, hailing from Cauquenes in the Maule Region, achieved gold in the women’s T47 class 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 13.29 seconds. Further bolstering the medal count, Catalina reyes secured silver in the women’s T36 class 100-meter dash (14.82 seconds), while cristobal Medina and Isidora Torres each earned bronze medals in their respective classes.

Archery also proved to be a fruitful source of medals for Team ParaChile. Ephraim Tonn-Bourg secured a gold medal in the men’s compound bow, defeating Argentina’s Matias Candia later secured a bronze medal in the women’s compound bow, defeating Grayson 137-132.
Gonzalo Ramirez added another silver in the men’s compound bow, losing to Ephraim Tonn-Bourg 114-137 in the final. The day culminated with Ines Pardo winning bronze in the women’s recurve bow,defeating brazil’s Natalia Nunes 6-4 in a match celebrated for its sportsmanship,as Nunes embraced Pardo in a gesture of respect.
Table Tennis Secures Impressive Medal Count
The rengo Sports Center saw Team ParaChile excel in para table tennis,adding 13 medals – 2 gold,5 silver,and 6 bronze – to the overall tally.A thrilling Chilean final in the men’s doubles MD14-18 class saw José Luis Cerpa and Cristóbal García triumph over Juan Manuel Penna and Marcelo Solís, winning gold with a score of 3-1 (8-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5).
Cristóbal García continued his success, earning a bronze medal in the mixed doubles XD14-20 alongside Joseline Yévenes. Belén Fuente and Aylin Millalén secured silver in the women’s doubles WD10, narrowly losing to the Brazilian team of Ana Pereira and Nicole Dos Santos.

While individual sports shone, team competitions also commenced. In wheelchair basketball’s 5×5 modality, Chile faced a challenging defeat against Argentina (19-64).
