After the census of three cases of dengue fever within the same family, an ARS investigation was able to show that tiger mosquitoes, responsible for the transmission of the disease, were present in the area of rue Dombasle (15th century). ). A mosquito control operation therefore took place during the night from Friday to Saturday in an area including part of Dombasle, Olivier de Serre, Vaugirard and Convention streets.

“Five larval samples were taken in breeding sites containing water and the species Aedes albopictus (Editor’s note: the tiger mosquito) was recorded at a convent on rue Dombasle and a medical-educational institute on rue Olivier of Serres. At the adult stage, two individuals were noticed on rue Vaugirard in the courtyard of a hotel,” specified the regional mosquito control agency.

The operation took place at night, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. It started with the treatment of the interior courtyards, then the treatment with a pick-up on Rue de la Convention with the assistance of the police who closed access to the street from 3:30 a.m. The street and accesses were reopened around 5 a.m., approximately 1 hour after the end of the treatment.

Already operations this summer in the 13th and in Hauts-de-Seine

The agents were able to access private sites including the interior courtyard of the convent, the courtyard of the medical-educational institute, the interior courtyards of the comprehensive school, the exterior courtyards of the nursery school, and rue Lhuilier. All of these property yards have been manually treated in a pedestrian manner with targeted application on the vegetation. Previously, residents were asked to leave their windows closed, confine pets and put away objects and anything lying around on the balconies.

“The whole treatment went very well. Officers were able to access all private and public yards and spray the insecticide. Whether those of the schools or the convent and the buildings which have a green courtyard, all the doors have been opened. A beehive, installed on rue Lhuillier, was even preserved in the operation,” notes Philippe Goujon, the mayor (LR) of the 15th century, welcoming the cooperation of local residents.

The same operation already took place at the end of August in a district of the 13th century as well as in Colombes and Rueil-Malmaison in Hauts-de-Seine.
