Paris: Defending champion Neeraj Chopra stormed into the final of the men’s javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics. The Indian star produced a stunning first-round throw of 89.34m to secure his place in the final. This impressive performance surpassed the qualification mark by a wide margin and marked Chopra’s best throw of the season.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 50kg weight category, wrestler Vinesh Phogat secured her place in the final by defeating Cuba’s Yusnelis Guzman Lopez 5-0 in the semi-finals. This remarkable achievement makes her the first Indian wrestler to ever reach the final of the competition.
