Pakistan‘s Arshad Nadeem Creates History with Olympic Javelin Record
Paris, France – Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem etched his name in history by shattering the Olympic record with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters in the final match of the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics. This remarkable achievement made him the first Pakistani athlete to ever win an Olympic gold medal.
The previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters, set by Norway’s Thorkildsen Andreas in 2008, stood tall for 16 years. But Nadeem’s exceptional talent shattered that barrier in his second attempt, sending the stadium into a frenzy.
While Nadeem’s throw was a historic achievement, it fell short of the world record of 98.48 meters, set by Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic in 1996.
Despite the missed world record, Nadeem’s gold medal stands as a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication. He becomes the first Pakistani athlete to win a medal in track and field, and the 11th overall medal for Pakistan in the Olympic Games.
Other notable results from the javelin throw competition include:
Neeraj Chopra settled for silver with a throw of 89.45 meters, his season best.
Peter Anderson secured the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54 meters.
