Paris-Roubaix: a mechanic falls on a bike while… going to help a runner in the Trouée d’Arenberg

by time news

The cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix are not forgiving. A mechanic learned it the hard way this Sunday. While trying to support one of his riders – the Belgian Brent van Moer, victim of a technical problem – the member of the Lotto-Soudal team fell on the cobblestones in the mythical Trouée d’Arenberg.

The Belgian cyclist from Lotto-Soudal was forced to change bikes at the Trouée d’Arenberg, one of the most difficult sections of the Paris-Roubaix course. Wanting to get ahead of the team car to bring the athlete a new ride, a mechanic from his background climbed onto the machine to deliver it by hand to Brent van Moer.

But whoever wants to master cobblestones! Getting off the bike, the man fell to the ground, a few meters from his rider. Fortunately, nothing serious and Brent van Moer was able to recover his machine and set off again quickly. An unusual image that recalls the difficulty of “The Hell of the North”, which celebrated its 119th edition this year. In front, it was the Dutchman of the Ineos-Grenadier team Dylan van Baarle who won, ahead of Wout van Aert and Stefan Küng.
