(Hasher Ahsan) President of the State Asif Ali Zardari got presidential immunity in the reference of Park Lane and Tosha Khana vehicles from the Accountability Court of Islamabad, proceedings against the President of the State were stopped.

On behalf of Asif Ali Zardari, a petition was filed under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution. In the petitions, the position was taken that the criminal proceedings of the cases cannot continue as long as Asif Zardari is the President of the country. No objection was raised or opposed to these requests, under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution, there can be any case against the President of the State and no action can be continued, therefore, from the cases of President Asif Ali Zardari. Requests for Presidential Immunity are accepted.

On the other hand, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has filed a petition for acquittal in the Tosha Khana vehicle reference. The accountability court has issued a notice and has set May 23 as the date for arguments on Nawaz Sharif’s petition.
