US President Joe Biden denounced the indictment directed by the Republican majority in the House of Representatives against the Minister in charge of Immigration, Alejandro Mayorkas, describing this attempt to isolate his minister as “unconstitutional.”

Biden said in a statement, “History will not look kindly on the Republicans in the House of Representatives because they targeted, in blatant and unconstitutional partisan behavior, an honorable public employee with the aim of playing petty political games.”

The Republican majority in the US House of Representatives indicted the Minister of Homeland Security responsible for the immigration file, Alejandro Mayorkas, and referred him to the Senate for trial with the aim of removing him due to what it considers to be failure on his part to stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico.
The Republican-dominated House of Representatives approved referring the minister to trial, in an unprecedented step in the United States for nearly 150 years.
The Council charged the Democratic Minister with two charges: “deliberate and systematic refusal” to implement the immigration law and “violating the public trust.”
The House of Representatives referred the minister to trial before the Senate, where the majority is for the Democrats, who will likely acquit Mayorkas.
