The major shipping company MSC is offering the Port of Hamburg great growth opportunities following its planned entry into the port logistics provider HHLA. “We plan to write a growth story here. The commitment to joint investments will be part of this offer, said Hamburg’s Senator for Economic Affairs Melanie Leonhard in a joint FAZ interview with the MSC boss. “We have also agreed that we will specify the short, medium and long-term investment planning every three, five, ten years,” said the SPD politician.
She pointed out that the perspective should extend far beyond Hamburg: “It is important that HHLA is much more than the port company in Hamburg. There are development opportunities, for example in the Baltics and the Mediterranean. And HHLA is really strong in intermodal transport, which has a stabilizing effect in difficult economic times. Strengthening all of this is a task for the future.”
