Germany is about to get a new streaming bundle, and the partnership behind it is raising eyebrows: RTL+ and HBO max will join forces when Warner Bros. Discovery’s service launches in the country on January 13th.
A Surprising Alliance Shakes Up the German Streaming Market
The move, announced January 9, 2026, might seem unexpected, but industry observers say it’s a logical step as HBO Max enters a competitive landscape. RTL Deutschland has already been showcasing select HBO Max content since 2023, laying the groundwork for this expanded collaboration.
The companies are touting an “attractive bundle” of both services in a single subscription, with an “exclusive” offer kicking off immediately with the German launch. But the discounted price won’t last long.
Limited-Time Offer: Bundling RTL+ and HBO max for Less
For the first month after HBO Max’s launch, through January 13th, customers can snag a bundle of HBO Max Basic (with ads) and RTL+ Premium for €9.99 per month for the first six months, increasing to €11.99 thereafter. Alternatively, an ad-free bundle of HBO Max Standard and RTL+ Premium is available for €15.99 per month for the first six months, then €17.99. Customers in Austria will soon have access to the bundle as well.
German users have two subscription options, both cancellable monthly with no long-term commitment. HBO Max Basic (with advertising) and RTL+ Premium are available for €11.99 per month, a savings of €3.99 compared to subscribing to each service separately. The HBO Max Standard and RTL+ Premium bundle, ad-free, costs €17.99 per month, down from a combined €6.99.
