“Passports ordered until September 2022 are available” –

by time news

“All passports ordered until September 10, 2022 are already made and available. Let the applicants come and collect them”, said Martin Niteretse, Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security, in a raid carried out on March 9 at the General Commissioner for Migration. And to denounce those who have not yet recovered their passports ordered two years ago.
He confides that 11,000 passport applicants have already paid and about 40,000 have appointments for payment.

For applicants with appointments lasting until November this year, he asks the General Commissioner for Migration to work day and night so that these appointments are instead scheduled for June or July: “We have agreed with the police station that we will start making at least 500 passports a day from next week”. And to reassure that the granting of passports will now resume at the normal rate.

For applicants with emergencies like medical boards or students who want to go study abroad, he urges them to write letters to the Commissioner General for Migration explaining their situations.

Minister Martin Niteretse calls on passport applicants to avoid contact with commissionaires: “We must denounce these commissionaires, hunt them down and punish them severely. There would be corrupt police officers, but it should not be said that there are only corrupt people in the whole police station”.

He recalls that only the applicant in person can submit his file to the police station. Except for hospitalized patients and minors.
