Patriots Adjust Roster with Key Additions and a Release Ahead of crucial Games

Teh New England Patriots have made meaningful adjustments to their roster, activating offensive tackle Will Campbell and defensive tackle Milton Williams from injured reserve while releasing defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. The team also elevated offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes and defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III from the practise squad, signaling a strategic shift as the 2025 season progresses.

Reinforcements Return from Injury

The return of Will Campbell and Milton Williams provides a much-needed boost to the Patriots’ depth on both sides of the ball. Both players have been sidelined due to injury, and their activation to the 53-man roster indicates they are nearing full health and prepared to contribute. This move allows the coaching staff greater flexibility in game planning and personnel deployment.

Did you know? – NFL teams can elevate a maximum of two practice squad players to the active roster per game. These elevations revert back to the practice squad the day after the game if not signed to a contract.

Practice Squad Players Earn Opportunities

In addition to the return of injured players, the Patriots are rewarding the performance of players on their practice squad. Brenden Jaimes, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman, and Leonard Taylor III, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman, have both been elevated to the active roster.

Jaimes, 26, has already demonstrated his value to the team, having been elevated for games against the Carolina Panthers on September 28th and the New York Giants on December 1st, contributing on special teams. He was initially signed to the practice squad on September 1, 2025, and later signed to the 53-man roster on December 23, 2025. His journey through the NFL includes stints with the Los Angeles Chargers, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2021, and the Tennessee Titans. To date, he has participated in 48 regular season games, including three starts at centre in 2023, and two postseason contests.

Taylor,23,is receiving his third elevation of the 2025 season, following appearances against the Buffalo Bills on December 14th and the New York Jets on December 28th. Signed to the practice squad on October 16, 2025, Taylor originally entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Jets in 2024. In 18 NFL games, he has recorded 33 total tackles, 1 sacks, and 2 passes defensed. He was previously released by the Jets on October 14, 2025, after appearing in two games this season.

Pro tip – Practice squad elevations are frequently enough used to assess a player’s performance in a game setting. Strong performances can lead to a full contract offer.
