Latvian Singer Paula Dukure Found Dead; Police Investigate

The Latvian music community is mourning the loss of Paula Dukure, a singer who rose to prominence through her participation in the national selection for the International Eurovision Song Contest. Dukure, born in 1993, was found dead after being reported missing on February 12th, authorities confirmed.

The State Police (SP) has initiated a criminal process to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. While the investigation is ongoing, a police spokesperson stated that currently available information “does not indicate that a criminal offense was committed against the woman.”

Dukure first gained public attention in 2011 when she competed in the Latvian national selection for Eurovision alongside Edija and Mika Dukuris. She continued to pursue her Eurovision dream, participating again in 2012 with a different original song. Her talent was further recognized in 2014 when she received a nomination for the Latvian Music Recordings of the Year Award in the “Best Debut” category.

The singer was last known to reside in the Jugla district of Riga, Latvia. The investigation is focused on determining the exact cause of death, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The loss of Dukure is a significant blow to the Latvian music scene, and the SP’s investigation continues to unfold.
