“Paulette Missambo is the revelation of 2023. Let’s set a date!”

August 3, 2023

In a free speech, François Ondo Edou, member and executive of the National Union (UN) said that Paulette Missambo created the surprise. Also, he says that this candidate for the 2023 presidential election is the revelation of 2023.

The presidential election, since the death of Omar Bongo has this particularity that each one introduces its singularity, even a totally unexpected winner. In 2009, André Mba Obame, renovator among renovators, created a surprise.

This former Minister of the Interior whom Jean Eyeghe Ndong, Prime Minister and Rose Francine Rogombe, interim President refuse to renew to his post of Minister of the Interior during the interim period, will have these few words, during the handover with his successor, Jean François Ndongou:”you will hear about me!“.

To put aside this young and dashing minister, recognized as a fine strategist, the securocrats of the system have this brilliant idea: to organize a swearing-in ceremony for the interim President of the Republic not provided for by the Constitution, and thus be able to make applicable a provision of the fundamental law which stipulates that the day after the swearing in of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister submits the resignation of the government.

Without being required to take this act, the interim President of the Republic takes an oath and receives the resignation of the last government appointed by Omar Bongo.

When Rose Francine Rogombe reappointed Jean Eyeghe Ndong as Prime Minister, head of government, the only change observed in the composition of the new government was the replacement of the Minister of the Interior, André Mba Obame by Jean François Ndongou, a close associate of the Prime Minister.

It’s a coup! One day, historians will certainly dwell on the political and strategic foundations of this very first post-Omar Bongo constitutional coup. Only a few weeks after leaving the government, the former Minister of the Interior is talking about him, defying all predictions.

He will announce his candidacy for the presidential election in… Barcelona and precisely in the hospital room in which President Omar Bongo passed away. It is the start of an electoral campaign during which his love side rises every day. This will be the revelation of this election. He will win the 2009 presidential election at the polls, but Ali Bongo will be declared the winner.

The 2016 election also brings its own revelation which is also a major surprise. Jean Ping, former barron of the CEO who supported Ali Bongo in 2009, enters the scene and decides to confront Ali Bongo. Until then, nothing worries the power in place. He is convinced that the Gabonese opposition cannot choose a single candidate to face its own PDG candidate. However, a dramatic turn of events 10 days before the election, two opposition heavyweights, Casimir Oye Mba and Guy Nzouba Ndama, withdrew their candidacies in favor of that of Jean Ping, proclaimed sole opposition candidate. He will also beat Ali Bongo at the polls. But, once again, it is Ali Bongo who will be declared the winner.

Arrive 2023.

“There are never two without three”, goes the saying. There is a very high probability that the tradition will repeat itself. The first clues are already perceptible with, themselves, an obvious singularity. For this election, the National Union, the party of the late André Mba Obame, Pierre Claver Zeng Ebome and Casimir Oye Mba, who also passed into the afterlife, put a lady, Paulette Missambo, in the race.

This woman who has had an exceptional political career has certainly not reached the end of the road. Paulette Missambo is the first female headmaster. It begins with the Port Gentil State High School, then at the Léon Mba National High School. Appointed to the government in 1990, after the National Conference, she will be the very first woman to occupy the rank and quality of Minister of State in Gabon.

During her long governmental career, Paulette Missambo passed through the Public Service, National Education where her passage left indelible marks, Health with the construction of numerous health structures scattered across the country and equipped with technical platforms. There too, the achievements of the former Minister of Health are still visible even if all of these works are falling into ruins today, like the many maternities she built in Libreville and everywhere else.

We will also note her time at the Ministry of Transport where she carried out the rehabilitation of the country’s airport infrastructure, which is currently in a state of disuse. 2023 is certainly not 2016, but a few weeks before the presidential election, the robot portrait of the future winner is beginning to take shape and the elements to accompany it already exist.

A political platform called Alternance 2023, created on the initiative of Paulette Missambo. It is within it that the consensual candidate of the opposition will be chosen shortly. In her litany of the first, we can still note that Paulette Missambo is the first woman to be president of a political party with a storefront in Gabon. She and Mrs. Victoire Lasseny Duboze are the only women to compete in the presidential election of August 26, 2023.

Is it a coincidence that a thousand women, beyond the political chapels, wanted to find her as part of a citizen meeting this Sunday, July 17, 2023? Between women, the exchanges were fruitful. In any case, they allowed the fairer sex to realize that they represent 52% of the Gabonese population and that for this race to conquer the palace by the sea, they can bet on this lady who is in a curve very upward.

Candidate from the Nzebi group, the second in the country in terms of population, the sidelining of Guy Nzouba Ndama, another Nzebi heavyweight, could benefit him. We have just seen it by the exceptional welcome reserved for this Nzebi, 100% Gabonese at the stages of Mbigou, Lebamba Ndende and even Mouila. As they say in football, she was playing at home.

When we add to this unconditional support the Gabonese practice which means that in the presidential election, except in the case of 2016, the Gabonese generally line up behind the man or the woman of their ethnic group, we understand why Paulette Missambo is the favourite. If we must add to this sociological fact, the assessment considered positive of her passage in the ministerial departments that she directed, we really realize that she has the best assets.

She knows it ! This is why she is already distilling the message that befits her future function, namely to restore the Republic. Restoring the Republic means putting the Gabonese back to work, in the same spirit. It means redefining together the rules of the democratic game, as in 1990. It means bringing to all Gabonese the dignity that has already been lost. Without braggadocio, Paulette Missambo is the revelation of 2023. Let’s set a date!
