PCB demands compensation from ACC for chartered flight expenses during Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for providing chartered flights to the teams during the Asia Cup cricket held in August. Despite the tournament being hosted by Pakistan, India announced that it would not play in Pakistan, resulting in India’s matches being played in Sri Lanka.

As a result, PCB arranged chartered flights for the other teams to travel to Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The board is demanding that the amount spent on these chartered flights should be reimbursed to them. It is important to note that the ACC had sanctioned two and a half lakh dollars (roughly Rs. 2 crores) to the PCB for the organization of the tournament.

In addition to this, PCB will receive a share of ticket revenue and sponsorship. However, the board argues that the introduction of chartered flights resulted in huge losses, and they believe that the Asian Council is liable to compensate for these losses.

The PCB’s demand for compensation sheds light on the financial complexities and challenges faced by cricket boards in organizing international tournaments. The outcome of this dispute remains to be seen, but it highlights the importance of addressing such issues to ensure the smooth and fair functioning of the cricket ecosystem.
