‘Pea, Pound, Pasolini, three irregulars of the 20th century’, at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca from 18 to 24 March

Conferences, readings, theatrical performances for an intense week dedicated to three “irregulars” of the 20th century: Enrico Pea, Ezra Pound and Pier Paolo Pasolini, scheduled from 18 to 24 March and organized by the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca. The events on the program aim to investigate in an unprecedented way the common thread that binds the three artists, putting them in dialogue with each other. We will talk about the friendship between Pound and Pea, born from the translation of Moscardino; Pound’s biographical events will be followed with the show “Ezra in cage” and readings and in-depth analysis of the Pisan Songs; light will be shed on the appeal for Pound’s release, signed by Pea and rejected by Pasolini, who reunited with Pound only years later, with the famous Rai interview which was the subject of the show “Odi et amo”.

In the presentation press conference it was underlined that the intent is to seek, through the mediation of comparison and cultural experience, a way to overcome the ideological limits that have gripped such important authors over the decades. According to the organizers, “the ‘Pea Pound Pasolini’ project intends to question itself with freedom and bold courage, attempting to bring to fruition a vision that is as free and 360° as possible, capable of leading the debate beyond any homologation”. The initiative is also sponsored by the Municipality of Lucca and the Pasolini Study Center of Casarsa.

Programme: 18 March, 5pm: inaugural conference with Giovanna Bellora, Luciano Luciani, Carlo Pulsoni, Simone Pellico. 19 March, 5pm: meeting on Pisan songs, with Filippo Bedini and Mario Bernardi Guardi. 20 March, from 4pm to 6pm: song readings with the students of the Liceo Machiavelli in Lucca. 21 March, 7pm: performance on Enrico Pea with Luca Padalino, Caterina Simonelli and Giovanna Berti. March 22nd at 9pm: theater show “Pasolini/Pound. Odi et Amo”. March 23 at 6pm: meeting with Leonardo Petrillo, Mariano Rigillo and Anna Teresa Rossini. March 23rd at 9pm and March 24th at 4pm: theater show “Ezra in the cage”.
