Authorities found Ansdell lying in the Express Lanes and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to CHP statements. The Los angeles County Medical examiner’s office later confirmed his identity. His city of residence has not been released.
The driver, a woman operating a gray Hyundai SUV, stayed at the location following the collision, the CHP confirmed.
Traffic in the northbound Express Lanes was halted as officers investigated. A Sigalert-a notification of important traffic disruption-was issued at 1:17 p.m. and remained in effect until 3:19 p.m., causing significant delays for commuters.
