Pedro Pascal & Danny Ramirez to Star in Todd Haynes’ ‘De Noche’

Mexico City – Pedro Pascal has stepped into a leading role in Todd Haynes’ upcoming film, ‘De Noche,’ replacing Joaquin Phoenix just days before production was slated to begin in Mexico. Pascal will star alongside Danny Ramirez in the anticipated love story.

A Sudden Shift in Casting

The film’s production faced a temporary halt following Phoenix’s unexpected departure.

  • ‘De Noche’ centers on a complex relationship amidst political turmoil.
  • Pedro Pascal was a popular choice among fans following Phoenix’s exit.
  • Filming is expected to commence next month.
  • The script was co-written by Todd Haynes and Jon Raymond.

Haynes addressed the disruption, telling Variety, “What happened this summer was tough. But the film itself and the script [which Haynes co-wrote with Jon Raymond] itself may resurrect in a different form someday.” The narrative follows two men who become entangled in a web of corruption, ultimately forcing them to flee the country.

Pascal’s Rise and Upcoming Projects

Pascal quickly emerged as the fan-favorite to take on the role after news of Phoenix’s exit surfaced last August. ‘De Noche’ promises a compelling dynamic, with Pascal portraying a hardened police detective who finds himself falling for a younger teacher, played by Ramirez.

Pascal’s recent work includes roles in the romantic film ‘Materialist’ and the superhero feature ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ He also appeared in Season 2 of the acclaimed series ‘The Last of Us.’ Looking ahead, Pascal is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ He will also reprise his role in the ‘Star Wars’ universe with ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu,’ the first live-action spinoff series to reach the big screen.
