Penn State Men’s Swim & Dive Team Secures Road Victory at Army, Women Fall Short

Penn State’s swim and dive teams concluded a dual meet against Army on Friday, with the men’s team achieving a decisive victory and the women facing defeat at Crandall Pool in West Point, New York. The men’s team triumphed with a score of 169-130, marking their first road win of the season.

Men’s Team Dominates Black Knights

The Penn State men’s team showcased a powerful performance,led by standout contributions from seniors Eduardo Cisternas and Mariano Lazzerini,each securing two event titles. Junior Tylor kim further bolstered the team’s success with victories in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

“The team really stepped up today,” a senior official stated. “We saw some incredible individual performances and strong relay teamwork.”

The men swept the podium in the 500 freestyle,with Cisternas leading the charge at 4:20.94, followed closely by Rylan Anselm (4:24.96) and Jack Clancy (4:26.67). Cisternas also claimed the top spot in the 1000 freestyle, finishing in 9:08.48. Lazzerini contributed a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 51.52.

Kim’s speed was undeniable, winning the 50 freestyle in 20.09 and the 100 freestyle in 43.31. Lazzerini added another victory in the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:53.94, with Vicente Villanueva close behind in second place at 1:55.99.

Women’s Team Faces Tough Competition

The Penn State women’s team fought hard but ultimately fell to Army. Senior Morgan Moore led the charge,winning the 1000 freestyle (9:50.71) and finishing a close second in the 500 freestyle. Senior Catherine Meisner secured a victory in the 200 freestyle and a hard-fought second-place finish in the 100 freestyle.

“Our women’s team showed incredible resilience,” one analyst noted. “They faced a strong opponent and battled until the very end.”

Margaret Marquardt contributed a win in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 53.81. Julia Barto earned a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.96.
