Two political sides, two visions: “What is happening in the National Assembly is serious. I invite the LFI deputies to pull themselves together, ”says the president of the chamber, Yaël Braun-Pivet (Renaissance). “Parliament is coming back in force”, rejoices on the contrary Alexis Corbière (LFI).
“We have been demonstrating for a week that because of a few, we are not able to lead a debate on a subject which concerns the French”, regretted the president of the Assembly on RTL, castigating the “strategy of obstruction, personal involvement, parliamentary guerrilla warfare, invective, insults ”of a part of the deputies of rebellious France to slow down the examination of the pension reform.
In one week, the deputies examined only 544 amendments, including, on Monday, the threshold of the index for seniors which was lowered from 300 to 50 employees. “It’s a step forward, an improvement, it comes from parliamentary debates”, she stressed to highlight the work of harmony that can be done in the hemicycle. But there are still more than 14,000 amendments and 35 hours of debate. To advance to article 7 of the bill, which provides for the postponement of the legal retirement age to 64, and to address all the subjects, “it would be necessary to withdraw almost 9,000”, in addition of the thousand that the Nupes withdrew yesterday to “move on”.
“Hit a nail all together, we are more effective”
Whether or not the deputies have completed their contests, the discussions at first reading will end on Friday at midnight. The text will then go to the Senate. It is indeed a budgetary text and the government has used article 47.1 of the Constitution to limit the time for parliamentary debates.
“We must remain reasonable, it is important to devote time” to the debate but, recalled the macronist, the current discussions have been scheduled to last “twice as long as the Touraine and Woerth reforms”. In short, “it must not mobilize the National Assembly over the next year”, while there are other important texts to examine, such as the justice law, a text on nuclear energy and the law of military programming.
Delete 9,000 amendments, the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Alexis Corbière brushed off the idea. “We have just withdrawn 1,000”, he argued on Europe 1, including 800 from LFI on Article 2 alone, recognizing a “strategy of amendments”: “to hit a nail together, we is more efficient. This atmosphere in the Assembly is well suited to the figure of the Insoumis, who see in it a return to parliamentarism. “Put 577 passionate people for hours in the same room… This is not an abbey of monks who have taken a vow of silence”, he laughed, evoking the much more aggressive atmosphere of the Third Republic. “What is violent is to tell the French that they are going to work two more years to retire when from the age of 55, one in two is in a situation of no longer having a job” , he defended.
“The fact that we deleted 1,000 amendments at once says our desire to move forward on the text,” commented Somme deputy François Ruffin. “Why the government (us) forced to debate in nine days of debate”, he questioned on LCI. This is why the deputy and coordinator of LFI Manuel Bompard, he asked the government to extend the parliamentary debate. “We are going to take two years of retirement from millions of people in this country, we can devote more than 10 days of debate to it in the National Assembly”, he argued on France info.
Asked about the words of the Insoumis Aurélien Saintoul – who called Olivier Dussopt “impostor” and “assassin” before apologizing – Corbière and Ruffin showed solidarity. If the words are “unacceptable”, the violence, according to the first, comes from the way the government “lied” on certain points of the reform. “We repeatedly questioned the minister to get the truth on this question of 1,200 euros because I am telling this microphone that they lied”, he asserted, saying, with his group, “want the truth about the 1,200 euros”. Ruffin, he asked his colleagues to be “at the height of the people” who manifest “smoothly”.
