Pentagon: US military left shelled center in Ukraine ‘weeks ago’

by time news

The US military left a training center near Lviv “a few weeks ago,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said. Previously, this center was shelled.

“There was no American military there, in general, the Americans did not work at this training facility. We left, as you know, a few weeks ago,” said Mr. Kirby in an interview with ABC (quoted by RIA Novosti).

“Look, this is the third military facility or airfield that the Russians have struck in western Ukraine in just the past couple of days,” the Pentagon official said. The latest airstrike indicates that Russia is “expanding its targets,” he said.

The International Center for Peace and Security, located an hour west of Lviv, was hit by a nighttime airstrike. Maxim Kozitsky, chairman of the Lviv Regional State Administration, said that at least 35 people were killed during the attack on the military base and another 134 were injured.

The decision to withdraw about 150 US troops from the Florida National Guard from Ukraine was made even before the start of Russia’s special military operation. The National Guardsmen were in Ukraine to assist in the training of the military of this country. Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24.
