the PP candidate, juanfran Pérez Llorca, is set to face a crucial investiture session this Thursday as he seeks to become the next President of the Generalitat Valenciana, following the resignation of Carlos Mazón. Mazón stepped down amid mounting pressure and criticism related to his governance’s handling of the devastating dana emergency on October 29,wich resulted in 229 fatalities.
Pérez Llorca enters the regional parliament, Les Corts Valencianes, without a formal agreement secured with the Vox party, a critical factor given that their 13 deputies hold the key to achieving an absolute majority in the first round of voting. Upon arriving at the Autonomous Chamber shortly before 10:00 a.m., Pérez Llorca stated he would present his proposals and appeal to those who prioritize “stability,” adding, “whoever wants to support them.” Negotiations, he indicated last week, were progressing “in good harmony.”
Though, Vox has signaled it will await Pérez Llorca’s speech, scheduled for 11:00 a.m., before deciding whether to offer its support. The far-right party has reportedly presented a series of demands to the PP, including the construction of dikes and dams throughout the region, and a commitment to the PP’s previous budgetary agreements, specifically regarding limitations on “green politics” and addressing “mass immigration.”
Opposition and Victim Groups Protest Investiture
Prior to the parliamentary session, a rally organized by the Acord social Valencià platform and supported by associations representing victims of the October dana disaster, took place to voice opposition to Pérez llorca’s investiture. Protestors argue that his leadership would perpetuate the policies they believe contributed to the high death toll.

However, both the PSPV and Compromís, totaling 46 deputies, have announced their intention to vote against the candidacy. Should Pérez Llorca fail to secure an absolute majority, a second vote will be held on Saturday, requiring only a simple majority. if neither vote succeeds, Les Corts will be dissolved within two months, triggering regional elections.
