After the order against Nupur Sharma, Justice Pardiwala and Justice Suryakant faced several hateful comments on social media. “There is nothing wrong in raising objective opinions against judges. But there should not be any action on the part of the people that destroys the dignity of the judgments. Pardiwala added, “It is not the social media that resolves the grievances in the judgments, it is the judges.”
The court’s verbal criticism was rejecting Nupur’s demand that the cases registered at different places should be considered together against the remarks. “Their release set the whole country on fire. They alone are responsible for everything that is happening now. Why were those remarks? Such people are not religious. They have no respect for other religions. Cheap publicity, political agenda and other nefarious interests are behind such remarks.’ – Court accused.
Kolkata Police issued a search notice against Nupur Sharma. The action was taken after he did not appear despite being asked four times. Earlier, Nupur Sharma had sent an email to the Kolkata Police saying that four weeks’ time is required to appear for the interrogation.
