Details of the Incident
The 33-year-old father was discovered in his car on Great Northern Highway on Thursday night, suffering from stab wounds. He was immediately transported to a hospital, but medical staff could not save him.
The alleged attack occurred in front of the man’s young son. The community has laid flowers at the site on Great Northern Highway.
The Investigation Unfolds
Police have been investigating two crime scenes. One is where the man was found. The other is a house one street away. Neighbours reported that a man was arrested at the second location after being found hiding in a backyard.
It remains unclear whether the two locations are related.
Court Appearance
Police initially questioned three individuals before charging Loughlin with murder. Loughlin appeared in court in Northbridge. Acquaintances of the 18-year-old were seen crying as Magistrate Anne Longden addressed him, saying, “this is a very serious charge here.”
Loughlin, wearing a white shirt and black pants, had his court appearance last about a minute. As he was led away, he asked the magistrate, “is that it”.
The teen will remain in custody and is scheduled to reappear in court at the end of the month.
