Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov ruled out the possibility of the arrest of director Alexander Sokurov. In his opinion, the head of state treats the director “kindly”.
Mr Sokurov told Podyem that he did not know what the consequences of his dispute with Mr Putin could be. “If a decision is made to arrest me or do something, I cannot avoid it,” he said. The publication does not specify which question the director answered.
“Of course not!”, Mr. Peskov commented on the possibility of arresting Mr. Sokurov of the radio station “Moscow speaking”. “This is out of the question! The President is very kind to him. But a dispute is a dispute, ”he added.
At a meeting of the members of the Human Rights Council with the president, the director proposed to release “everyone who no longer wants to live with us in the same state.” Vladimir Putin called the words of Alexander Sokurov impermissible. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, suggested checking the director’s words for extremism.
