According to a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, after negotiations with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bajraktar, at the Atomexpo 2024 international forum in Sochi, Hungary will begin to receive Turkish natural gas from April 1, which will turn it into the first state in outside the neighboring countries of Turkey, importing this type of fuel, Day.Az reports.

The agreement between Hungary and Turkey provides for the supply of 275 million cubic meters of Turkish gas during 2024. Deliveries will begin in the second and third quarters of this year.

The minister also expressed his intention to develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy, recalling that the new nuclear power plant in Turkey, which will soon go into operation, was built according to a Rosatom project, like the Paks-2 nuclear power plant being built in Hungary. “Thus, the experience gained during construction in Turkey will also help us,” Szijjarto noted. According to him, Turkish specialists will assist their Hungarian colleagues in the technical inspection of equipment with a long production period.
