Petrol bowser exploded in Haiti! The death toll has risen to 75

The Prime Minister of Haiti Ariel Henry has described the petrol bowser explosion in Haiti as a “national disaster”.

Haiti, in the Caribbean, is facing severe shortages of fuel, including gasoline and cooking gas. Meanwhile, a petrol bowser carrying petrol crashed in the northern city of Cape Hayden.

When the people of the area saw the petrol coming out of it, they poured it into vessels. Bowser then exploded due to an unexpected fire. Of these, 54 died in the blaze.

Initial reports said more than 100 people were injured.

The death toll has now risen to 75.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry commented on the accident.

This accident was a national disaster. He added that three days of mourning would be held across the country to pay tribute to the dead.

Cape Hayden Deputy Mayor Patrick Almonar said the death toll from the crash could rise further.
