Open for six months, the trial of Néro Lancinet Camara, accused of “rape and harassment” by Dame Laurence Rouyer, founder of the Hakuna Matata orphanage in Dabompa, continued on June 7, at the Mafanco Court of First Instance (Matam). . At the helm, Phillipe Bangoura, supervisor at the orphanage. The hearing was to hear the medical examiner, Namandian Traoré, who unfortunately did not appear, because according to the defence, his version was not contested in the Council Chamber.

The president of the court, lady Bamba Kallo therefore invited Philippe Bangoura to take the stand. He denies the accusation made by Néro, who says he caught him with his wife, Laurence Rouyer, in their master bedroom kissing. “Nero never caught me with mum (Laurence) kissing us. It is only a professional relationship that binds us. It was on March 31 that a colleague informed me that the girls wanted to meet me. When I received them, the name S… told me that Nero had been harassing her for a while and he even tried to sleep with her. Other girls told me that he was unable to penetrate them, so he inserted his fingers into their genitals (…)” declared Phillipe Bangoura at the bar, before acknowledging that it was he who allegedly filed Néro with the Police on March 31, 2022, just after receiving a letter of dismissal and his salary for the month. “I told the educators to stop him from going out and I went to the police. Afterwards, we came in a pick-up to drop him off at the Dabompa police. Arrived, the police asked me who should file a complaint? I answered: It’s mum (Mme Laurence). The next day, she came to file a complaint.

Why didn’t you inform Madame Laurence as soon as you learned about the affair? Philippe Bangoura replies: “As an educator, it was my duty to alert the police, then inform mum (Laurence)”. The judge replies that this role was not his, she asks him why he interfered in the couple, to make a decision, when he was dismissed from the establishment. Philippe Bangoura remained silent.

If the public prosecutor believes that the testimony of Phillipe Bangoura has edified the lantern of the court, the defense, she believes that his accusations illustrate a plot against their client. Therefore, they asked the court to dispense with this statement to grant provisional release to their client. Failing this, the judge should declare the proceedings closed and send the case back for requisitions and pleadings. A request that the public prosecutor and the civil party have described as inappropriate at this stage of the trial.

The president of the court, on the bench, rejected Néro Lancinet Camara’s request for release and postponed the hearing to June 13, for the hearing of the medical examiner.
