Historic Inaugural Phoenix Marathon Draws Over 7,200 Runners From Across the Globe

A resounding success, the first-ever Phoenix Marathon took place on Saturday, attracting more than 7,200 registered participants representing all 50 U.S. states and over 12 countries. The event marked a significant milestone for the city and underscored its growing appeal as a destination for major athletic competitions.
A Diverse Field Takes on the Desert Challenge
The inaugural race saw a diverse field of athletes tackle the 26.2-mile course. Participants navigated a route that included stretches along Camelback Road and through the prestigious Biltmore area, ultimately finishing near Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The impressive turnout highlights the increasing popularity of marathon running and the desire for unique race experiences.
Championship Performances Highlight the Day
Jake Heslington claimed the men’s full marathon title, completing the course in an impressive 2:19:29. He was followed closely by JJ Santana, who finished in 2:22:11, and Luke Francis, who secured third place with a time of 2:25:02.
In the women’s division, Tiaree Towler emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in 2:45:23. Shanna Birchett finished second with a time of 2:55:13, and Jessalyn Sadler rounded out the podium in 2:55:54.
