Phoenix Wastewater Treatment Plant Fire: Crews Battle Blaze in West Phoenix
A fire erupted at a City of Phoenix Wastewater Treatment Plant in west Phoenix on Thursday morning, prompting a rapid response from local firefighters. Crews are currently working to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after 9 a.m. near 91st and Sunland avenues, south of Broadway Road.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited as the situation unfolds, but Arizona’s Family has contacted the Phoenix Fire Department to ascertain if any injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Initial reports from the scene, captured by the Arizona’s Family news helicopter, depict plumes of white smoke billowing from various sections of the plant. Visual assessments also reveal black burn marks covering portions of the facility’s equipment. The fire’s impact on wastewater processing operations is, as yet, unknown.
Firefighters are diligently working to determine the origin of the fire and prevent further escalation. The City of Phoenix has not yet released a statement regarding potential disruptions to services or environmental concerns.
