Rémi Masson is a photographer diver. He visits the cavities of the Alps by swimming, armed with his camera to immortalize a nature to which few have access.
Water is his kingdom, and sometimes he will find it in the bowels of the mountain. Direction the entrance to a cave for Rémi Masson, at the foot of a cliff in the Vercors. “The Vercors is very rich in chasms and caves, it is a limestone plateau above, and it is dug with cavities everywhere”, details the photographer diver. A specialist in fresh water, he photographs in apnea with the strength of the flippers, in search of the magic moment.
“It is an underground river, so we tell ourselves that there is no light and that we have to bring some. But there, we expect a little outside light. You have to choose the moment that best lends itself to it to obtain the most beautiful colors and the most beautiful atmospheres”. explains Rémi Masson. Some of his photos are exhibited at the Water Museum in Pont-en-Royans (Isère). This time, the public has access to the invisible and to the underground networks that feed rivers and rivers.
