Alfàs del Pi Concludes 25N Commemorations with Youth Forum on Gender Violence Prevention
A vital initiative aimed at empowering young people and combating gender-based violence will culminate this Friday, November 28, in Alfàs del Pi, Spain, marking the end of the city’s commemorative events for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, known as 25N. The “Fòrum Jove ‘Break the Silence’” offers a crucial space for dialogue and education.
Addressing a Critical Need
The forum, a collaborative effort between the Youth and Equality departments of the Alfàs del Pi City Council and the Ki-Haedod-I Club, is specifically designed for residents aged 16 to 35. It will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Espai Cultural Escoles Velles. According to organizers, the initiative aims to foster a participatory environment where young individuals can critically examine emotional relationships, respect, and the multifaceted issue of gender violence.
Forum Curriculum: From Awareness to Action
The “Fòrum Jove” will delve into a range of essential topics, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and potential solutions surrounding gender violence. Discussions will cover the various types of violence, the protocols for police intervention, methods for risk assessment, and the security devices available to those in need. A particularly impactful component of the forum will be the screening of a video featuring testimonies from victims of gender violence, offering a powerful and authentic perspective on the realities of this pervasive social problem.
Equipping Youth with Self-Defense Skills
Beyond awareness and understanding, the forum will prioritize practical skills. The event will conclude with a self-defense practice, designed to equip attendees with basic personal security tools. This hands-on component reinforces the forum’s commitment to both prevention and education, empowering young people to protect themselves and others.
A Long-Term Investment in Community Safety
The “Fòrum Jove” project was initially launched by the Alfàs del Pi City Council in 2018, demonstrating a sustained commitment to youth engagement and community well-being. A senior official stated that the initiative seeks to “promote debate, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas” among the municipality’s young population. The goal is to cultivate youth participation, strengthen group cohesion, and establish a consistent platform for young people to voice their concerns, share their opinions, and propose solutions for improving community life.
