Well, when will these pills come to India?
Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory and Optimus Pharma are interested in making Pfizer’s Paxlovit tablet in India to cure corona quickly. Indian companies continue to make generic quality of a foreign-invented drug and sell it at low prices.
Pfizer thinks the Paxlovit tablet, which helps treat corona, should be available to everyone. Therefore, it has entered into an agreement with the United Nations Drug Insurance Package System. Accordingly, licenses to manufacture Paxlovit tablets will be issued to companies in 95 countries. Pfizer does not claim premium for tablets manufactured in poorer countries. Other countries have to give small amounts. India is also a party to the agreement. So, Indian companies can produce this soon.
However, there is a rule that a pill used in India must be tested separately in India. This can be approved only after conducting the third phase test among Indians. Companies such as Cipla, Emcure, Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory, and Torrent have already been contracted to manufacture Merck’s Molnupravir capsule. The third phase of testing for this drug has already begun. Similarly, if the trial for the Paxlovit pill is successful, Indians will get two corona treatment pills in the new year.
