Ballina Mourns the Loss of PJ Walkin, Beloved Father and Community Member

A pillar of the Ballina community, PJ Walkin, passed away peacefully after a short illness at Mayo University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. His death, occurring at his residences in Springfield, 16 Amana Estate, and Tone Street, Ballina, has prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance from across County Mayo and beyond.

A Life Remembered
PJ Walkin was a devoted father to alan,Garrett,and Sinéad. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean, his parents, Paddy and Kitty Walkin, and his brothers, Tony and John, and also members of the Gilmartin family of Sligo. his legacy extends to his adored grandchildren – Conor, James Sean Jean, Evan, and Molly – who will cherish his memory.
He is survived by his partner, Kathleen, daughter-in-law Jacqui, son-in-law Aidan, Alan’s partner Naz, his sister Maura Gannon, and his brothers Gerry, Eamon, Séamus, and Vincent. A wide circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends also mourn his passing.
Funeral Arrangements and Memorials
Reposing will take place at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina (Eircode F26 V274) on Monday, January 12th, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, on Tuesday, January 13th, at 11:30 AM, followed by burial in Leigue cemetery, Ballina.
