Planning determines the economic and strategic gains achieved from increasing wheat production

Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Planning identified the most important economic gains and outcomes resulting from increasing the production of the strategic wheat crop and expectations of reaching 6 million tons during the current marketing season, while confirming that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s support for the agricultural sector has a positive impact in improving the level of productivity of the dunum yield and reaching the level of Achieving self-sufficiency in wheat.

Ministry spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the (INA): “The large production rates of the wheat crop will reflect positively on the economy of Iraq, starting with securing and achieving food security in the country and increasing strategic reserves.”
He added, “Iraq will not need to import wheat from abroad, and thus it will increase support for local production and reduce the exit of hard currency outside the country.”
He pointed out, “Local production would stimulate other economic aspects, including operating mills and the transportation sector, as well as benefiting from the feed resulting from the grain grinding process, in addition to maintaining the prices of flour in the markets and other outputs.”
He stressed that “the government support provided by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the agricultural sector has a major positive impact in improving the level of productivity of a dunum of wheat, by increasing the purchase prices of wheat, in addition to supporting farmers and giving them many and very large privileges, including accelerating their access to On their dues, all of which are important reasons that contributed to increasing wheat production.”
He continued, “Also, the great efforts made by the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources in accordance with government directives contributed to increasing wheat production.”
He explained, “Wheat is one of the basic materials within the food basket, and it is one of the strategic agricultural crops, of which many countries are keen to achieve self-sufficiency.”
