Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Oil confirmed stopping the import of white oil and gas oil after operating the North Refinery in Baiji. While it indicated work to increase gasoline production and stop its import in a record period, it confirmed the development of plans to develop oil facilities and add new units to raise the quality of its products.
Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, Hamid Younis, told the (INA): “The (North) Baiji refineries, which were recently opened by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, include a group of 3 refineries: one Salah al-Din, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels, and two Salah al-Din, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels.” The North Refinery has a capacity of 150,000 thousand barrels,” indicating that “work is now underway to raise the quality of these products.”
He added, “The refineries of Holy Karbala and the North entered service recently, and the fourth unit in the Basra Refineries Company with a capacity of 70,000 barrels also entered service,” pointing out, “We currently import gasoline daily with a volume ranging between 3-4 million liters.”
He continued, “The quantities of gasoline produced from the North Refinery amount to 3 million and 600 thousand liters per day, 3 million and 500 thousand liters of gas oil, and 1 million and 300 cubic meters of white oil, which is equivalent to 7 and a half million black oils,” explaining that “the import of white oil and gas oil has been stopped.” After operating the refinery due to achieving self-sufficiency.”
He stated that “the amount of gasoline imported after entering the Holy Karbala refinery decreased to 7 and a half million liters per day, and then it also decreased after entering the North Refinery to 4 million liters per day.”
He stated, “We will work in a record period to increase gasoline production and stop its import, through new projects represented by gasoline units that will enter service this year, and we will reach meeting the consumer need.”
He stated that “plans have been drawn up to develop oil facilities and add new units to raise the quality of products.”
