Plans to search with divers after the bridge collapse in Baltimore – Dagsavisen

by time news

– We hope to use divers to conduct a better search and do our best to find the six missing, says Roland Butler from the state police in Maryland.

Butler says the divers are scheduled to enter the water Wednesday morning US time. Among the missing are migrant workers from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, according to the Mexican consulate in Washington.

– We don’t expect to find any of these alive, says Shannon Gilreath from the coast guard.

The eight were working on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore when it collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship. Two people have already been retrieved from the water, but one of these died in hospital.

The work to retrieve the six who are still missing was only suspended on Tuesday.
