The mega auction for the upcoming 15th IPL season has recently concluded in Bangalore. Of these, 204 players, including 67 foreign players, have been put up for auction. This includes 9 England cricketers. Apart from that there are also Moin Ali and Butler before the auction. Former Sri Lankan cricket coach Mickey Arthur has said that England cricket should not allow their players to play in the IPL.
“England cricket should not allow their players to play in the IPL. Because it could affect their Test cricket. That too at the start of the Test season it was not right for them to play. It would be right for them to play county cricket. We have got talented Test players from there, ”he said. He is currently coaching the county cricket team Derbyshire Club.
England players Livingston, Joffre Archer, Markwood, Johnny Barstow, Chris Jordan, Jason Roy, Mills, Sam Billings and David Ville are all set to play in the upcoming IPL season. Of these, only a handful of Test cricketers have played in the IPL for England. It is noteworthy that Ben Stokes and Joe Root withdrew from the IPL series ahead of the bid with a view to focusing on Test cricket.
