Modern France was built and developed with and around its railway. We would dream that, faced with the major climate challenges facing the planet, the train – the least polluting means of transport, the SNCF Connect home page tells us – would accompany us again. The network is there, even if it is not always in very good condition and our fellow citizens have already been won over.
