Pledge acceptance issue at Madurai Government Medical College: Physicians urge for serious inquiry

by time news

The doctors have demanded that the government should conduct a serious investigation into the incident as the first principal of the Madurai Government Medical College, Rathinavelu, has been sacrificed in the matter of taking oaths.

A. Rathinavelu, the principal of the Madurai Government Medical College, has been transferred to the waiting list for accepting the ‘Maharishi Sarak Sabbath’ pledge to the ‘Ipo Credic’ pledge which is usually accepted by medical students at a function held at the Government Medical College, Madurai on Saturday. The doctors said that the college had made Rathinavel a scapegoat in the matter and that a full investigation by the government into the change of pledge would reveal the conspiracy behind it.

In this connection, the doctors said: Rathinavelu was the Principal of the Government Medical College and the Principal of the Government Hospital. Thus most of the responsibilities of the Medical College were taken care of by the Deputy Principal of the College. There is also an advisory board consisting of senior physicians to coordinate all programs held at the medical college and to advise students.

It is customary for all medical college events to take place on the advice of this committee. It will be released only after the invitation to the event, including the participation, has been approved by the committee. The group has also organized an event on Saturday.

While the group was organizing the event at the Medical College, Rathinavelu, the Chief Minister of the Medical College, attended a consultative meeting at the Government Office and from there went to the event with the Ministries and the Government. The pledge was read as soon as the show began. Thus, he is less likely to know what is in that pledge form and what is wrong.

Even though she knew that changing the pledge was wrong, she did not interfere for the church’s civility of not interfering in the reading of the pledge. Also, as soon as the show is over, the student who prepared the affidavit has received an explanation from the leader. He also inquired as to whether they had asked him to download the affidavit. And the incident that changed the pledge is unlikely to have happened without the knowledge of the doctors on the advisory board.

It is unbelievable that the committee that saw everything, including the invitation, did not see the pledge alone until the end. Moreover, Rathinaveli’s virtuous activities have caused dissatisfaction among many senior doctors. Also, a person working as the head of the Madurai Government Hospital and working in the neighboring district is making strenuous efforts to return to Madurai. So, even to bring him back to Madurai, there may have been various attempts to trap the gem in it. And while many of these are involved, it is unacceptable that immediate action should be taken against Rathinavelu alone. The advisory committee on the incident said the government should come forward to conduct a serious investigation into the students involved.
