The first competition for Bulgaria in competitive Olympic BMX will be held in Pleven on October 13, 2024, Sunday. The event will be in one day, observing the rules of the International Cycling Union – UCI. The idea of the main organizers – Cycling Club “Kailaka Riders Pleven” – is to get the maximum number of competitors and people close to cycling to experience this discipline from the cycling family. Participation is completely free! There are categories for mixed bikes, and it is not mandatory to participate with BMX wheels.
The Municipality of Pleven assisted by providing the necessary equipment for the construction of the first competitive BMX track in Bulgaria, which is located in Pleven at “Maribor” Street No. 1. Machines of “Inzhstroy” EOOD helped to shape the necessary earth mass poured on the site into specific obstacles along the route – starting hill, turns, jumps, roller blinds, etc. The initiative to provide assistance was the Mayor of Pleven Municipality Dr. Valentin Hristov and the Chairman of the Pleven Municipal Council Prof. Dr. Ivan Malkodanski.
The organizer of the first Olympic competitive BMX competition in Bulgaria is the SK “Kailaka Riders” with the assistance of the SK “Riders United” and the Bulgarian Cycling Federation, the event is held with the support of the Municipality of Pleven, the Tourist Association “Kailaska Dolina”, the SK “Kailaka Riders” “, SC “Riders United”, Bulgarian Cycling Federation.
Competition program on October 13, Sunday:
- 08:00 – 10:00 – Registration /finish area/
- 08.30 – The track is open for inspection and detour (NO BICYCLES ALLOWED)
- 09:00 – 09:15 – Technical Conference /Final Zone/
- 09:30 a.m. – Open practice without starting grid
- 10.30 am – Training with starting grid for category – Children BMX & mixed bikes + girls/women category – BMX & mixed bikes.
- 11:30 a.m. – Track closes
- 11:45 a.m. – Training with starting grid for category – Men’s BMX & Mixed Cycling + Veterans – BMX & Mixed Cycling.
- 13:00 – The track closes
- 14:00 – Qualifications – all categories
- 15:00 – Finals – Children, Girls/Women, Veterans and Men
- 17:00 – Prize giving
