Following the emergence of widespread irregularities in national examination processes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party—now referred to as Mangal Milan—to set the government’s tone regarding the NEET paper leak.
He urged that the matter be treated as a national concern rather than a political wedge.
Protests and Hospitalization Data
The government’s internal focus on the NEET issue follows a volatile Monday in New Delhi, where the Chalo Sansad
march—spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party—escalated into clashes between protesters and law enforcement.
- Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital: Admitted approximately 150 injured individuals. By 7 pm, 65 medico-legal cases were registered, with 35 patients admitted for further care.
- Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC): Treated at least 24 injured people, most of whom were discharged following initial first aid.
- Critical Cases: One 20-year-old woman was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in critical condition suffering from a hypoxic brain injury.
While most injuries were identified as bruises, baton injuries, or facial injuries, hospital sources noted that the exact sequence of events leading to the most severe injuries, including the stampede that followed, has not yet been established.

Beyond the immediate NEET controversy, the NDA meeting served to align the coalition’s agenda for the monsoon session. Kiren Rijiju noted that the session began with a focus on recent national successes and international trade agreements, asserting that the welfare of farmers remains paramount
in any FTA signed with any country.
As the monsoon session proceeds, the government faces the dual pressure of managing protests outside Parliament and addressing the national issue
of examination integrity within the legislative chambers. Observers are watching for further government action regarding the specific demands of the protesters, including calls for compensation for the kin of NEET aspirants who died by suicide after the leak forced the government to re-examination.
