Podcast. Politics: engaging young people differently

by time news

Going to the polls no longer interests them. Voting, what for? Yet involved in the great debates of society, young people are turning away from politics. To make their voices heard, they find other means of expression. Associative commitment, demonstrations, debates on social networks. From this observation was born in 2014 Allons Enfants. A political party made up of young people aged 18 to 25 with the aim of giving a new image to politics and rejuvenating elected officials. The candidates of Allons Enfants are transpartisan, rather left-wing, attached to Europe, the environment, inclusion and participation. They are running for municipal, European and legislative elections. And want to make a voice heard: that of young people! In France, ten municipal councilors have already been elected under this label and for 2022 the objective is to join the National Assembly.

For the fifth episode of the “Our Future” podcast from the “Campus World”, journalist Judith Chetrit went to meet two candidates to understand their commitment. Aya Salama, 18, high school student in La Roche-sur-Yon and the party’s youngest candidate, and Sébastien Allix, 27, president of an association in Rennes. A podcast produced in partnership with Les Champs Libres and the metropolis of Rennes, on the occasion of the Nos Futurs festival organized from March 22 to 27 in Rennes.
