On December 13, 2009, the goldsmith and engraver from České Budějovice went on a date with his partner. But he had to leave early because he was in a hurry to meet a customer who wanted to make a locket. Renáta Kukačková came for this, accompanied by her employee and friend Jana Kukačková. The kind goldsmith took the two women to the apartment, where he had prepared a piece of jewelry. Little did he know, however, that with this decision he had signed his own death warrant.

The women immobilized the goldsmith with a stun gun

In the apartment, Pavlov K. quickly realized that the women did not come for the promised locket, but wanted other valuable jewelry. The goldsmith started to defend himself, but he didn’t have the strength to overpower the two women. Kadlecová and Kukačková immobilized the man with a prepared stun gun. Subsequently, they hit him with a lamp and a case with tools that Pavel K. had in the apartment. The women continued their drastic attack. The goldsmith was repeatedly stabbed with a knife, causing multiple injuries to his chest, hands and face. In the end, Kadlecová and Kukačková cut Pavlov K.’s throat and made the cut all the way to the vertebrae of the cervical spine.

After the murder, the women cleaned up after themselves in the apartment and took jewelry and fractional gold for 141,071 crowns, a mobile phone and a goldsmith’s gun from the apartment. Kukačková then took Kadlecová to the hospital, whom Pavel K. was able to injure with a knife in self-defense. That same evening, the women and an acquaintance got rid of the murder weapon, bloodied things and hid the stolen gold in the forest in Táborsk.

DNA traces contributed to the capture

The dead goldsmith was discovered two days later in his apartment by his relatives, who were contacted by one of the customers who was waiting for the completed order. What both the relatives and the called detectives discovered in the apartment shocked everyone. “In the apartment, I saw him in a semi-reclining position in the living room, his head was almost separated from his body. If someone had told me at the time that two women had done it, I would probably have laughed at them.” Renáta Miková, the former Chief Commissioner of the Regional Police Directorate of the South Bohemian Region, commented some time ago for Blesk.

Despite the cleaning of Kadlecová and Kukačková, the police were able to detect DNA traces at the crime scene, and both women were caught by the police on January 9, 2010. In the same year, the regional court in České Budějovice sentenced Renáta Kadlecová to 18 years in prison, the younger Jana Kukačková received two years less. The Supreme Court reduced the older of the women’s sentence to 15 years, the younger Kukačková was sentenced to 14 years.
