A comprehensive assessment has awarded the Pohang Buk-gu Youth Culture House an “A” grade in both operational performance and safety, signaling a strong start for the facility which opened in 2022.
The Pohang Buk-gu Youth Culture House, operated by the pohang city Youth Foundation, has demonstrated extraordinary standards in its frist comprehensive evaluation, a system designed to rigorously inspect all facets of youth facility operations. The evaluation considered key areas including facility operation and programs, youth participation and rights, local community linkage, safety management, and sanitation and environmental management.
The facility’s success is particularly noteworthy as it received the highest possible rating in its inaugural evaluation, conducted two years after its launch.According to a statement released by the foundation, this outcome reflects a purposeful focus on youth-centered programs and prioritizing safety from the outset.
The Pohang Buk-gu Youth Culture house has actively engaged young people through programs focused on emerging technologies, including the 4th Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence (AI), alongside participatory activities.A key component of its success has been the establishment of a Youth steering Committee, empowering young people to directly influence facility operations and programming. Moreover, the facility has implemented a robust system of regular safety inspections and hygiene management to ensure a secure and comfortable environment for all users.

This inaugural assessment of the Pohang Buk-gu Youth Culture House, two years after its opening, aimed to gauge its effectiveness across key areas like program quality, youth involvement, community ties, safety, and sanitation.

This success is attributed to a deliberate focus on youth-centered programming and a strong commitment to safety from the beginning. “It is a very important achievement to receive an A grade in both the comprehensive evaluation and the safety and hygiene evaluation in the first evaluation after opening,” said Choi Je-min, CEO of the Pohang City Youth Foundation.
