A new Pokémon is set to energize the world of Pokémon GO as the “High Zaptitude” event launches, introducing the debut of Wattrel and a host of electrifying challenges for Trainers worldwide. The event begins Tuesday,January 13,at 10:00 a.m. and runs through Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.local time.
The “High Zaptitude” event centers around the introduction of Wattrel, a new Electric/Flying-type Pokémon. Trainers worldwide will need to collaborate to unlock Wattrel’s appearance in the game through a series of Global Challenges. These challenges, once completed, will remain active throughout the event, with new challenges unlocking sequentially. Wattrel can be evolved into Kilowattrel by collecting 50 Wattrel Candy.
Increased Pokémon Encounters and Shiny Possibilities
Prepare for an influx of Electric-type Pokémon in the wild. Trainers can anticipate encounters with Chinchou, Shinx, Helioptile, and Tadbulb, among others. The event also increases the chance of discovering Shiny Pokémon, offering a rare prospect for collectors.
Egg-cellent Hatching Opportunities
The event will also feature special Pokémon hatching from 2 km eggs. Trainers have a chance to hatch Pichu, Elekid, Toxel, and Tadbulb. A lucky few may even encounter a Shiny version of these Pokémon.
Field Research and Timed Research Offer Additional Rewards
Dedicated Trainers can engage in event-specific Field Research tasks to earn encounters with Pokémon featured in the “High Zaptitude” event. For a fee of US$1.99 (or the equivalent in local currency), players can access exclusive Timed Research. Purchasing the Timed Research ticket provides a valuable bonus: half Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event.
